Hey there! I see you've been doing all the work here, and the bureaucrat has been M.I.A. since 2010, so I've bumped you up so you have bureaucrat rights - every wiki should have a good high level admin in case new admins need to be appointed. :)

Also, I've added the newly created NBC webring to the main page. The purpose of these webrings is to bring attention to the wikias listed that users on other wikias in the webring may not otherwise have been aware of. This can help newer communities grow, and bring new fans into established communities - since viewers often follow more than one show on the same network. I upgraded the blog & newsfeeds to a newer version as well, refresh buttons included.

If you have any questions, please feel free to hit me up on my talk page. Thank you for your time! :)

I am rather bemused by the use of the geography of my hometown in New Zealand for Pawnee in Indiana. Given the nearly 15,000 kilometre distance - and a change in hemispheres - between Christchurch and Pawnee, I was wondering if you could explain how this came to be and why?

The big park is Hagley Park; the river is the Avon River; the area called River Park is actually Victoria Square.

I also note the cute mingling of Christchurch street names - Carlton Mill Road, etc - with American ones like Columbus Street.

    • Yes I am also interest as to why the map of the city I live in has been converted into a fictional city for a so called comedy show. Could they not come up with anything original?

The medical centre is actually the Christchurch Hospital. I also notice that the they have renamed the Avon River as a creek and also a river. They are actually the same stretch of water and its been called the Avon River for a very long time.

Its typical that americans seem to think they own the world and now they are claiming real cities as their own fictional ones.

  • With Season 6 coming out soon, I was hoping to help out by fleshing out the season page a bit more, reorganizing the main page and adding more information to feature more of the great stuff on this wiki! Also, how would you feel about a new skin? I love the current one of Leslie and Ben but it's a little short and cuts off at the bottom. Let me know if you have issues or preferences for how things are done, thanks!

    • Hello! I made a few changes to the mainpage and skin but feel free to edit anything I've changed! I changed the skin but the new one doesn't seem to be showing yet most likely due to cache issues. If it still is not showing up tomorrow, I'll try reuploading it :)

  • I believe the following pages should undergo a cleanup;

    Pawnee City Hall

    Donna's Lake House

    Wyatt "Burly" Burlinson

    Wamapokestone Park

    The Fourth Floor

    Ray's Sandwich Place

    Al Connor

    Creekrock Village Museum

    Pawnee Super Suites

as some of them include opinions or seem to be direct quotations. If you have any questions or objections, please respond.

  • Hi Rachel,

Today was Wikia Day here at Wikia; a day when everyone forms teams to contribute to wikis they have an interest or passion in for the day.  I (plus 3 other Wikians) picked your wiki because of our shared love for Parks & Rec.  Hopefully our additions were constructive and in sync with your vision for the wiki!

    • Your guys' edits were great! Thank you so much!! The only thing was the videos that were put on character pages since it seems to clutter them up, so I'm putting them onto the already designated video pages for the characters. Thanks again because we can use all the help we can get on here!

    • Somehow the watermark on the top of the page is now squished. Do you know what changes were made that caused this? Because I would like to change it back because it obviously doesn't look good.

        Loading editor
    • Never mind, the only way to fix it was to replace it with another image.

        Loading editor
    • Thanks for being patient with us Rachel.  Your right, that watermark was off, I'm not sure what happened there.

  • I was wondering why you reverted some of my edits. On some of the articles in which I removed some info, I was trying to do that to make it less casual. I'll list my reasons for the edits that I don't feel should be reverted.

Pawnee City Hall: Certain aspects made it seem like someone is just talking casually about the hell and the paintings; for example This mural was originally entitled "A Lively Fisting." The name was changed for obvious reasons. I think "for obvious reasons in unnecessary, it implies something but doesn't give a reason, a bit like a wikipedia article saying "Davis Lyndenman in a Scorpio, and you know what that means."

Pawnee Courthouse: Lady Justice reminds us we’re all equal under the law. A few years ago we repainted “Our Lady Justice” to more accurately represent the husky size of our average citizen. Like before, it seems to be a narrative. In a wiki article there is no one person narrating the story, so words like "I" "We" "Me" "You" ect.. should only be used in quotes.

Donna's Lake House: Same reason as above; Donna Meagle's family owns this lake house up in the foothills. They keep quiet about it, because they're not big on hospitality. Donna describes the Meagles as cold people. If you do find yourself a guest there, you'd be wise to follow the Meagle Family Cabin Rules & Regulations: sounds like someone who has been there is telling me about it. My other edit I admit was a mistake on my part.

JJ's Diner: Spelling mistake in first paragraph, 9:00 AM was presumed by me, but it doesn't really matter.

Al Connor: as well as for having that disease where you can't feel pain when exposed to extreme temperatures. So, "firefighter" was kind of a no-brainer, career choice-wise. Once again, casualty. I added the name of the disease, and "no-brainer" doesn't give you much information. Someone might ask "why is that a no-brainer?"

Wyatt "Burly" Burlinson: He is known as the shy one and is known for being a neat freak who flips out on his roommates. But just calling him "the shy one" doesn't really do Burly justice. Burly's more like a shy, anal-retentive neat freak who gets upset with his temporary roommates when they're just trying to live normally. Like, Burly gets mad when someone puts the Pop Tarts box in his underwear drawer. But, doesn't it make sense to put the two first things you grab in the morning -- a frosted strawberry Pop Tart and, on laundry day, a pair of your roommate's clean underwear -- in the same spot? Burly calls this "a gross invasion of privacy." Others call it "an inspired time-saver." Other than that, Burly's an okay guy and pretty solid guitar player. The entire paragraph seems like someone who knows him going off on a rant.

Bobby Newport: Minor, but some of the words like "even", "whining" and "just" are used in a bit of a too casual manner.

Fire Department: In 1919, the first firehouse was built and, ironically, burned to the ground that same year. "Why is it ironic?" I know, but ambiguous words like "ironically" could open up some questions.

Craig: hunting them, like in the movie Predator. Implies that the reader has seen Predator.

Salvatore Manfrellotti: Salvatore Manfrellotti has been cutting hair across the street from Pioneer Hall at the Modern Barber Shop since 1958. All of the movers and shakers who have come through Pawnee have sat in Salvatore's chair at one point or another. He's the guy who made Larry Byrd look the way he does. He created a hair style for Leslie Knope in the episode "The Banquet" that he calls "The Mayor". Alot of opinions going on here. Also, "movers and shakers" is a very casual phrase.

Wamapokestone Park: Same as Pawnee Courthouse.

Nick Newport, Sr.: I added that he's dead, which is kind of important. Also, the years 1913-1914 were an estimation based on the age he was at his death, and the year of his death.

Ray's Sandwich Place: Same as Pawnee Courthouse.

Thanks. I hope you understand. I really really like this wiki, and would never do anything if I didn't think it would help the wiki.

P.S. It you have any problem or questions about any of my future edits, please message me.

           Thank You!

    • Some of the changes I reverted back because they were quoted either from the show itself or the book. Looking back, some of the rollbacks shouldn't have been done and I will fix them accordingly. I apologize, as your edits are very much appreciated and are very well done! Thank you again for all of the updates you do.

  • Hi Rachel.  I noticed you uploaded this picture of Donna:  http://parksandrecreation.wikia.com/wiki/File:Donna_7.png

and I've been trying to find this clip in video form for a while now, but I've had no luck on youtube or the NBC website or elsewhere for that matter.  I asked Retta on twitter what episode this picture was from and she said she thought it was deleted from The Comeback Kid, and was only viewable online.  I still haven't had any luck finding it though even with that extra information.  I was wondering if you knew where I could find that video clip, cuz I'd like to watch it.  Thanks.

    • It looks like NBC.com must have deleted it.  I got it from a web exclusive video they posted on their site a few months back.  I went back through their site and wasn't able to find the same video.  I remember it had something to do where they left Donna in charge of the office and instead she does her makeup. Sorry!
