Turnbill Mansion

Turnbill Mansion is a beloved historical mansion in Pawnee that was built in 1860. In 1867, the progressive Reverend Jeremiah Turnbill officiated a wedding between a white woman and a Wamapoke Indian chief at the gazebo in the backyard of the mansion. The secret ceremony was beautiful and romantic. But then word got out and the reception was a bloodbath. Fortunately, there were two survivors. Unfortunately, they were both horses. The Reverend died when a tornado in 1898 mostly destroyed the mansion.

Turnbill Mansion

Jessica Wicks rented out Turnbill Mansion for Nick Newport, Sr.'s 85th birthday party in the episode "94 Meetings". Jessica made major renovations to the site, including repainting, drilling holes into the wall, and removing wainscoting. Bill Haggerty from the Pawnee Historical Society brings the renovations to Leslie Knope's attention, who then attempts to stop the renovations from happening. Upon going to the mansion along with Tom Haverford, Leslie discovers Jessica has already made some serious changes to the place, including painting the original hardwood floors black, and plans to bulldoze the famous gazebo out back. In order to stop the gazebo from being destroyed, Leslie chains herself to the mansion's gate, expecting it to open from the middle. However, the gate swings to the side and the bulldozer goes right past her, destroying the gazebo.
